President Daniel Chapo on Thursday formally received Prophet Dr. David Owuor, the global minister of the Repentance and Holiness Ministry, in an official meeting at the Presidential Palace in Maputo.
The high-level reception, attended by senior government officials and top church leaders from across the country, marked a significant moment in Mozambique’s growing engagement with Christian revival movements.
The ministry described the visit as a “national awakening to repentance, holiness, and the preparation for the coming of the Messiah.”
State broadcaster TVM reported that the meeting between President Chapo and Prophet Owuor underscored the increasing resonance of the Prophet’s message across Africa. The discussion, according to officials present, centred on faith, moral restoration, and the need to align national priorities with godly values.
Addressing the President, Prophet Owuor reiterated his long-standing message that the world must return to holiness in preparation for the return of Jesus Christ.
“The Messiah is coming,” he declared solemnly.
“Mozambique must now take its place in preparing the way for the Lord. This is the time to prioritize God’s agenda, for the nation carries great promise before Him.”
He commended President Chapo for what he termed as humility and discernment in leadership, describing him as “a leader who recognizes that true prosperity begins with honouring the Lord.”
In his remarks, President Chapo echoed the Prophet’s message, affirming that Mozambique’s strength and progress depend on maintaining faith in God.
“At a time when many are turning away from Christ, Mozambique must remain steadfast and keep its foundation in faith,” the President said.
Following the presidential audience, Prophet Owuor is scheduled to lead a two-day National Conference and Grand Healing Service in Maputo.
Organizers expect thousands of worshippers, clergy, and delegates from various provinces to attend. The ministry said the event will emphasize spiritual revival, moral renewal, and healing,both physical and spiritual,“as a demonstration of God’s mercy over the nation of Mozambique.”
The Repentance and Holiness Ministry noted that the Mozambique mission forms part of the Prophet’s continuing global outreach aimed at preparing nations for what he describes as “the glorious coming of the Lord.” According to the itinerary, the Prophet will depart Mozambique immediately after the conference for Japan, where he is scheduled to preside over another major revival meeting.
In a statement issued in Maputo, the ministry described the visit as “a historic moment of divine visitation.”
It added:
“This is a new dawn for Mozambique. When leadership embraces the Word of God, it opens the door for blessings to flow upon the nation. The Lord is visiting the earth, and Mozambique is part of this great awakening.”
